Team

The JB Design team is made up of a handful of experienced professionals, each bringing their own speciality and expertise to the table.

J Berry . As an award winning branding and identity professional, J is an idea person who can conceive, develop, and express complex brand and identity concepts and orchestrate comprehensive brand campaigns. He believes in working as a partner with clients, encouraging teamwork while flawlessly executing a project through its completion and targeted business results. His portfolio includes design work for a variety of nationally known brands. Clients have included Allied Signal, American Express, Boehringer Ingelheim, Boston Lyric Opera, Canon, Credit Suisse, Debevoise & Plimpton, Deloitte, Deutsche Bank A.G., ESPN, FedEx, GE, IBM, International Paper, Johnson & Johnson, Lindenmeyr Munroe, Mony, MFA Boston, NBC, Oxygen Media, PBF Energy, Pepsi, Pfizer, Pratt and Whitney, Swiss Army, Terex, Texaco, Walmart and YMCA.
Prior to launching JB Design, J led brand-marketing at firms in New York City and Connecticut, playing a key role in the development and maintenance of programs for Texaco and Johnson & Johnson. Active within the design community, J has served on the board of the Connecticut Art Directors Club (CADC).
What motivates J? It’s not the numerous design awards his work has earned – including a recent Gold Award from Communication Arts. While these are a source of pride, his real incentive is the satisfaction of being part of the development and long-term success of his clients’ brands. When not feverishly meeting deadlines, J can be found under the hood of his vintage Mustang – or making fresh tracks on the ski slopes in Colorado.

Kim Hua. A devoted basketball fan, Kim loves to see her alma mater, the University of Indiana, score repeatedly. But she herself also manages to score - over and over again with clients, as her wealth of past experience allows her to overcome obstacles and contribute to all aspects of the firm’s operations. She excels in measuring the success of a company’s website design and performance, based on brand alignment, user interaction and evaluation. Overcoming the hurdles and paving the way for intuitive design and architecture, she helps clients maximize the return on their web investments.
Kim sees the whole picture as she has gained branding and web expertise on both the agency and client side prior to partnering with JB Design. She has collaborated in branding efforts for a broad spectrum of corporate and consumer brands in industries ranging from technology to healthcare to fashion. Under her leadership, JB Design has partnered with a wide array of clients including NBC, ESPN and other well-known brands.

Diane Harrick. Our Managing Director, Diane keeps everything running smoothly so deadlines are met and nothing falls through the cracks. With over 25 years in the creative industry, she gains her edge from a unique dual perspective, having enjoyed both the roles of client and consultant. She has gained creative insights through her experiences as a Print Buyer, Project Manager, Creative Director, and Vice President of Creative Operations. Top that with her hands-on experiences as a creative talent placement specialist. Who better to understand the needs and expectations of teammates than “someone who’s been in your shoes and worked at your desk!”

Our lead generator of sales, Diane understands the business and the expectations where budgets, deadlines and response all matter. And where the right strategy makes all the difference in the success of the communication. Regardless of how busy things are or how cut throat the competition is, she has found that real success often starts with the question, “How can I help?” When this busy lady is “off-duty”, her favorite activities are gardening, cooking and boating.

Greg Voornas. Our wordsmith and chief copy generator, Greg honed his writing skills while spending
the first 20 years of his career at some of the most respected ad agencies on the planet. These include Ogilvy & Mather, Bozell Worldwide, Foote, Cone & Belding, Wells Rich Greene and Young and Rubicam. Whether writing short snappy copy or rewriting a large website with SEO in mind, Greg heartily subscribes to David Ogilvy’s advice to a client decades ago: “You cannot bore people into buying your product.”
Greg has created print, TV, radio, direct mail, collateral and Web/interactive campaigns for clients from Honda, Mattel and Microsoft to Chase Manhattan Bank, Mazda, IBM, and Philip Morris. His focus continues to be 100% on the verbal message - literally getting the word out. No matter how many meetings, teleconferences or video conferences are conducted to arrive at the right strategy or messaging, in the end it all comes down to the ad, direct mail piece, website, brochure, poster, radio spot or banner. And if Greg writes it – it won’t be boring!
